Run the carbon engine to calculate your shipping emissions reduction

Open the file “carbon_engine.ipynb”

Run the cells of the jupyter notebook one by one. The purpose of each cell is described in the respective comments in the code. 

The script executes the following steps:

  1. Checking the correct configuration of the carbon engine

  2. Pulling and preprocessing of the information from the data model, which is needed to calculate the emissions.

  3. Preparing the shipping type simulation by applying each shipping type to every route (this step is optional but recommended; it is used for the shipping type simulation use case in the app)

  4. Executing the carbon engine by calling the climatiq API for each row in the preprocessed input data

  5. Writing the emission data back to the data pool and reloading the emission tables in the data model
