Task Mining Release Notes

This release introduces the new Data Configuration section in Task Mining projects. The Data Configuration allows you to:

  • Enable or disable the out-of-the-box data transformations.

  • Set the schedule.

  • Monitor the status and investigate potential issues.

To access the Data Configuration, go to Task Mining > Task Mining Projects > Data Configuration.

How it works

Every time the Task Mining Client uploads data to Celonis EMS, it is added to a mini-batch, which batches multiple uploads to treat them at once for efficiency. Every 20 minutes, this mini-batch integrates into the data pool SQL database.

Depending on the Data Configuration schedule settings, the data transformations execute to enrich the user interaction data captured by the Client to prepare it for the Analysis in the following way:

  • The data loads from SQL.

  • The data transforms according to the Data Configuration settings.

  • The enriched data is stored in SQLThe data model is reloaded.

  • The new data is available to be consumed in the Analysis.

The status can continually be monitored in case an error occurs. If an error occurs, a relevant error message is displayed to help you resolve its cause.

Improved screenshot uploader service stability by rewriting how uploaded files are handled (from temporary to in memory)

Task Mining Release 2022.08.10

Task Mining Service Fixes:

  • Improve log messages of quickstart data processing and checks in case table is missing or empty.

  • If the project creation fails due to team limitations (e.g. licenses), the user will be informed in the error message how to resolve this.

  • If the project creation fails, the creation of a (non-working) project will be prevented. Previously, the project was still created despite e.g. data pool creation failure.

  • Recreates the application key during project creation if it doesn't exist anymore.

  • Automatically increases counter for e.g. data pool names if during project creation a data pool of the same name already exists. E.g. "Quickstart Demo (2)".

  • Fixes formatting errors of the attribute "WebPageDataExtractions" in the advanced config so the Client can load it correctly.

  • Ignores several attributes when uploading a config file to the advanced config: "appkey", "dataPoolId", "bucketId", "targetTable", "teamDomain", "serverId". Those attributes will always be defined by the "Project Connection" menu or the EMS team in which the project is created (so "teamDomain" always matches the respective EMS team URL of the project).

  • Fixes a problem of corrupted string values in the Task Mining Client when uploading multiple files in parallel.

  • Task Mining Service: Downloads and update notifications are now pointing to the latest 2.6.1. Client version.

Task Mining Service: Project Creation

If you create a new Task Mining project without having a Studio space named "Default", the project creation fails.

With this fix, the new Task Mining project creates a package either within a Studio space named "Default", or if that doesn't exist, then in the first space.

If there is no Studio space, an error message appears: "Sorry, the project cannot be created because no space was found in studio. Please create a new space."

Example with optional screenshots enabled

When trying to understand which buttons a user clicked in web applications, without screenshots it is often hard to understand: Up to now, the Browser Extension provided the HTML element class, name and id of the element with which the user interacted with.

In modern web applications like Salesforce, these often only contain cryptic names which make it difficult to know which button or field was exactly clicked.

Now with the latest update, Task Mining adds more information to the columns targetElementName and targtElementType (see Schema Documentation). This makes it much simpler for an Analyst to understand e.g. which field was clicked or edited by a user.

How to update?

The update of the Task Mining Browser Extension is available over the Chrome Web Store. The update is automatically added by your browser, if you have the extension already installed.

To install it for the first time, see here.

The Task Mining Screenshot Viewer package (located in the Marketplace) has been updated to work with the latest Studio release.

How to update?

If you already have the Screenshot Viewer package installed, update using the following steps. This will also solve any potential layout issues that might occur right now.
