Why Customers Choose Celonis EMS Automation

Alternate titles: Benefits of Celonis EMS Automation; Why Customers Choose Celonis EMS Automation; Why Celonis EMS Automation?; etc.

EMS Automation Benefits
Simplicity & Flexibility

Customized use cases cannot be easily solved using standard interfaces (particularly with already customized ERP systems). With Celonis’ PQL Language, advanced business logics can easily be replicated and can be flexibly adjusted.

For example, extraordinary events like the COVID pandemic led to companies adjusting their delivery logics which could easily be adjusted by the companies’ business analysts.

Getting custom implementations done inside the ERP system takes at least several months due to bureaucracy and internal IT restrictions. With Celonis, new automation use cases can be implemented in a matter of weeks, rather than months or years.

Customers are able to roll out a use case for only one part of their business (e.g. company code, fulfillment center, or product type) and then scale it step-by-step. Using official system interfaces also significantly reduces documentational effort. Feedback from business departments can be easily considered and included.

Enhanced analytical capabilities

Within Celonis, companies can further benefit from the use of Machine Learning algorithms. Such enhanced capabilities further enrich automations and allow even more sophisticated and intelligent solutions.

  • Data from IT source systems, post-analytics data in the Celonis data models, and outputs from advanced machine learning models can be combined to build truly intelligent automations that account for your business logic.

Cross-system use cases

Including data from various source systems and other data sources allows the setup of comprehensive use cases to tackle business challenges in a rigid and fragmented IT landscape.

Notification possibility

After an automation is executed, email notifications can be pre-configured with the details of the automated objects and automatically be distributed to the relevant stakeholders. This combination of an automation performed in the source system and a notification about this update is not possible on the source system level.

Feedback from Partners and Customers

"The appetite for automation is very high this year within the organisation. [...] A simple use case like 'Increasing Order Acknowledgement rate' by sending reminders to suppliers would be totally feasible within SAP as well. But it takes so much effort, talking to IT, prepare forms, roll-out this to all global systems, etc. Within SAP this would take 1-2 years. With Celonis this will be super easy and we see value within weeks."

-- Celonis Customer

“In general the implementation would be straight forward and from a development point. But what we can see a shift in the industry in general that customers are hesitating to do implementations in SAP and are preferring more and more to keep SAP untouched and do all implementations outside SAP to avoid issues during update and migration of SAP.”

-- Celonis Partner

“If you are using only some standard BAPIs which we know, no objections from my side”

-- Head of SAP

Particular benefits over SAP Automation

Customization within SAP

There is a general hesitation on the SAP basis side, since one needs to make sure customizations also work after updates and migrations. This requires additional effort including extensive documentation. In turn, the official BAPIs used within Celonis are typically not affected and work independently.

Official SAP Interface

The BAPIs executed by Celonis EMS Automation are official SAP interfaces which require no customization within the SAP system. Following that, there is no need for technical ABAP development and specialized SAP developer knowledge.
