Configuring Task Mining data

Task Mining data configuration overview

The data captured for your Task Mining project may contain thousands of events from multiple applications and can be challenging to understand. Configuring the captured Task Mining data lets you group and label events and add business context so you can benefit from the granularity of the underlying Task Mining data while simplifying its analysis.

Example

Label Task Mining events

A Label is applied to events captured by the Task Mining Client software allowing similar types of events to be identified and grouped.

Apply a label (login) to all events related to logging in to an application.

Allows simple analysis of the total time spent logging in across all users.

Create Business Events from generic actions

A Business Event associates generic user action events with semantically-meaningful events to provide business context.

Associate a click action with a Submit invoice event to add business context to the generic click action.

Group Task Mining events into larger Tasks

A Task includes a sequence of events that form a coherent unit of work and typically represent a user completing a set of actions towards a specific goal.

Create a Task called Create an invoice which includes all related user actions like entering customer details, adding item lines and submitting the invoice.
