On-premise Clients (OPC) Installation FAQ
Deployment & Infrastructure
We recommend installing the OPC on a central server. Local installations should be reserved for small-scale testing or sandbox environments.
The OPC can be installed on:
Windows
Linux
MacOS
While one installation per server is typically sufficient, you can host multiple packages if necessary. To do this:
Prepare a unique installation package for each instance. See 1. Preparing the installation package.
Crucial: Extract each package into its own separate folder. Do not alter the internal folder structure or naming conventions.
Navigate to [
On-prem client installation folder] >Celonis On-prem Clients Manual Installation>Celonis On-prem Clients>Sharedand launch the Management Tool.Follow the tool's prompts to complete setup.
Note
Every client must have a unique ID. Do not clone or copy existing client folders to other machines, as this will cause malfunctions.
Scaling & Connectivity
A single Agent can connect to multiple on-premise applications (e.g., SAP and HTTP simultaneously) as long as they are within the same network.
We recommend separating environments to ensure stability:
QA/Sandbox: One Agent connecting to all non-production systems.
Production: One dedicated Agent connecting to all productive systems.
Updates & Versioning
Since the OPC acts as a passive mediator, most logic and orchestration are handled by the Celonis Platform. This means most updates are automatic and handled by Celonis.
If you need to perform a manual migration to a newer version:
Uninstall the existing clients.
Clear the environment of all OPC-related files.
Perform a fresh installation of the new version.
Always use the On-prem clients page within the Celonis Platform to start your setup. This ensures you are automatically guided to the latest version compatible with your operating system.
Release notes and all version history are available via the Download Portal.
