Creating on-prem system connections
Establish a secure bridge between your Celonis Platform and local third-party applications. By configuring these connections in Studio, you enable Action Flows to interact directly with your on-premise systems—such as SAP or Oracle—allowing for seamless automation of business processes across your entire infrastructure.
Your new system connection has been created. You can start creating your first automations with Action Flows. See Setting up Action Flows in Studio.
To create an on-prem system connection in the Celonis Platform, you need the following:
User permissions: Ensure your user profile is assigned the Analyst role within the relevant Workspace and has the 'Manage On-premise Adapters' permission enabled in the Admin & Settings - Permissions panel.
On-prem client status: Ensure the on-prem client is installed and Running. You can verify this in Admin & Settings - On-prem clients.
System access: Confirm that the server hosting your on-prem client has the necessary network permissions to communicate with your target application (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or SQL Server).
To create an on-prem system connection in the Celonis Platform:
Click Studio - Automation and select On-Prem System Connections.

This is where you can also preview and edit existing system connections.
In the On-prem system connection screen, click Set up on-prem system connections.
In the pop-up, enter a unique system connection name.
Select an installation package.
Tip
The Installation Package represents the specific Automation Agent (OPC) that will tunnel the traffic. If you do not see any packages listed, ensure your Agent is correctly registered under Admin & Settings - On-prem clients.
Select the application for which you want to create automations and click Save.
Verify the connection status. Once saved, the new connection appears in the list. Ensure the status indicator is Green, signifying a successful handshake between Celonis and your on-prem application.
