Connecting to SAP and S/4HANA
You can link your SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA instances to the Celonis Platform using a dedicated on-premise connector. Once the connection is set up, you can start retrieving data from SAP tables, and start different automation jobs.

Celonis Platform provides a single installer with which you can install SAP extraction client, for data extraction, and the Automation client, used for setting up automations using SAP. We refer to both clients as on-prem clients. For detailed instructions on installing the on-prem clients, see Installing.
Important
If you’re using SAP 4.6C or older or need to use the SAP PO/PI connection, you must install the SAP extraction client using the uplink installation. See Installing SAP extraction client using uplink.
Once the client installation is done, the Celonis on-prem client must connect to the SAP system. To do this, download the SAP Java Connector (SAP JCo) file and copy it to your local directory. See Connecting on-prem clients to SAP.
This is an extraction-specific step. You don't have to do it if you only want to connect to SAP for automation purposes. The RFC module allows you to extract from the SAP database based on information received from the Automation client you installed earlier. This step is valid for both extraction and automation actions. Before running any of these jobs, you must create an SAP user and equip them with the permissions necessary to perform extraction and automation tasks. For instructions on how to create a user in SAP, see Create users for SAP connection.
You need to do this step only if you plan to use the replication cockpit or the real-time options with data jobs. Go to Set up SAP Real Time Extension.
When all the pieces are in place, it's time to create your SAP connections in Celonis Platform. For data extraction, you can do it in the Data Integration area. See Connect with SAP for data extraction.
For automations, create your connection between SAP and Automation client in Studio or through the Admin and Settings area. See Creating on-prem system connections.
