Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Value Tracking

What if my data is on a rolling basis?

We recommend tracking value for value opportunities for a shorter duration than your rolling basis. For example, if you only keep 10 months of data, it is recommended that you track value for value opportunities for a duration of 9 months or less. Tracking value for a duration longer than your rolling basis will result in inaccurate value calculations.

What if I need to update my value tracking setup?

Once a value opportunity turns Live, the value tracking setup cannot be edited in Transformation Hub. However, you can edit the KPIs and filters used in the value opportunity from Studio.

If you need to update the value tracking setup by changing the KPI, adding or removing selected filters, or changing the date column selected, make a copy of the value opportunity and then update the setup in Studio.

What if the PQL for my KPI changes?

Value opportunities in Transformation Hub use the KPIs from your latest published Knowledge Model. This means that any published changes to a KPI are propagated to Transformation Hub and affect the KPIs and values displayed. If the change to the Knowledge Model is substantial, it may cause a large fluctuation in the value opportunity value realized while previously logged values will not change. In these cases, add a note to your value opportunity to explain the sudden change in the value realized.

What if there are errors in my value tracking?

Your Knowledge Models can change which will cause unexpected errors in value tracking. Errors in value tracking result in an inability for Transformation Hub to take a snapshot of the value opportunity’s KPIs and value for that day. If the error is not fixed for an extended time, the value opportunity will display no change in the value chart and show errors for the KPIs.

Once the error has been remedied, the KPIs and value will resume being logged. There are no implications on the accuracy of the value realized, as the latest snapshot takes into account all of the relevant data between <Tracking Start Date> to <Today> to assess KPIs and value realized.

Some examples of issues that cause value tracking errors and recommended actions include:

Issues

Recommended action

Your KPIs or filters are returning an error or null

Fix the KPIs or filters in Studio to return the correct set of data, then publish your changes.

Your selected date column no longer returns data

Set up value tracking again and select the correct date column to use for your time filters.

To retain the value realized that was logged in the original value opportunity, mark it as Completed.

Your selected Knowledge Model, KPIs, filters or date column was deleted

Set up value tracking again and select an existing Knowledge Model, KPI, or filter. Copy the value opportunity and then update the value tracking setup.

To retain the value realized that was logged in the original value opportunity, mark it as Completed.

Where is the data logged by Transformation Hub stored?

Transformation Hub data such as value opportunities, KPIs and value, are stored in a separate Transformation Hub data model within your team. On a daily basis, Transformation Hub calculates values for the KPIs linked to value opportunities, as well as the value realized for these value opportunities, and then stores it in that Transformation Hub data model. This provides a persistent view of KPIs and value for value opportunities, even if the source data is removed from Celonis Platform.

Note

  • Transformation Hub does not write to your custom data models.

  • Transformation Hub’s data model cannot be used to read from or write to, outside of the Transformation Hub feature.

Process data created in or displayed by Transformation Hub, such as custom processes or custom value opportunity types, are stored in your team’s Knowledge Hub and can be edited from there.
