User types and migration

There are two ways of managing users within Celonis Process Management: legacy user management, and AuthService users, both done through Process Designer.

User migration can only be carried out by the Celonis Platform team. Reach out to your account manager if you believe you need this service.

Legacy Local Designer users

These are users that were created before the AuthService was implemented in Process Designer (prior to 2019). Admins can still create local users in Process Designer, but these users can only access Process Designer. We do not recommend using legacy local users anymore, as they does not contain the latest capabilities and security features. To move away from these users, admins need to consolidate them with AuthService users in Process Designer.

AuthService users

There are two types of users supported by the AuthService:

  • SSO users - set up through customer’s 3rd party SSO. This allows customers to create users with their SSO credentials, and the management of credentials is within the 3rd party SSO.

  • Manual user - this is only available for special cases, please consult your Celonis contact if interested.

AuthService users can use “Forgot password” to reset their own passwords.
