Automation

With different automation tools at your disposal in Celonis Platform you can save time on repetitive and manual processes and focus on more important areas of your business.

Depending on your business needs, you can choose various automation mechanisms:

  • Action Flows This automation type is used mostly for integration with third-party software and external systems. It allows you to create complex automation workflows by simply dragging and dropping easy-to-use building blocks we call modules. A typical Action Flow, consists of multiple events, decision points, and alternative paths. They provide out-of-the-box integrations with multiple third-party software and intelligent automation to trigger processes in operational systems like SAP, Oracle, or Service Now. With Action Flows, you can start your automation manually whenever you need it or schedule them to be triggered at a specific time. For more information, see Setting up Action Flows in Studio

  • Orchestration Engine is a process orchestration capability in Celonis Platform designed to create, coordinate, and run end-to-end business processes. These business processes may originate from different sources, like systems, applications, AI agents, bots, and human users. Orchestration Engine allows you to coordinate data from all of these seemingly unconnected resources in an easy-to-manage and easy-to-control process workflow. To learn more, see Orchestration Engine.

There are other automation mechanisms that can boost your productivity across Celonis Platform:

  • Tasks allow human involvement in the automation process. They can be used in cases when automation requires the approval of a user, their manual input, or a decision before being executed.

  • Adding Actions to Studio components shortcuts for running predefined tasks, like executing an Action Flow or sending an email, which can be added as a button to your Studio element.

  • Triggers allow you to automatically detect items that meet the criteria you defined. They can be used by various subscribers to execute different automations.
