Use Cases

In order to implement the following use cases and extract the needed data, the correct API Group has to be selected in the data connection configuration.

With the Procurement API, the Purchase Requisitions use case can be covered, with the Sourcing API, Strategic Sourcing can be implemented and the Analytical Reporting API has to be selected for Contract Management.

Details about the respective tables that can be extracted from the different APIs are shown in the section about the different endpoints.

Strategic Sourcing

Strategic Sourcing is used to centrally control all purchasing, contract, and spend analysis processes for both direct and indirect materials and services.The general process refers to the steps that are handled in a company from the creation of a sourcing project to the record of the last offer received for the item.

Analyzing your Strategic Sourcing in Celonis helps you to monitor suppliers or materials involved.

Current use cases incl.:

  • Monitoring of Materials (Enables you to review the lifecycle of a sourcing process for specific materials. Monitor price trends and inspect the specific offers received for an event.)

  • Supplier performance (Includes indicators like the Avg. Cycle Time 'Event to Offer', which gives you an idea of how long it takes to receive an offer by a specific supplier after heaving created the related event. Another indicator of supplier performance is the overview of offer types, which sets the cycle time into relation to offers received from other suppliers. Furthermore, the rank trend can be used to analyze how to offer quality, in terms of price, developed over time.)

  • Process Benchmark (Compare process paths and main KPIs of single purchase order lines as well as subgroups, spot differences and identify success factors.)

Purchase Requisitions

Purchase requisitions are attached to great values in organizations from two perspectives. First, they have various values from small to enormous amounts that makes the control over them very crucial. Second, the process of purchase requisitioning is involving various resources within organizations. This also emphasis on the importance of collaboration with suppliers.

  • Non-Catalog Requisitions (High usage of catalogs in procurements provides a better control over custom pricing and enables buyers to access details of items availability, shipping costs, and discounts. The effort on increasing the usage of catalogs ends to better collaboration with suppliers and make the purchase requisition processing faster. The smaller number of non-catalog requisitions, the better circumstances of purchasing and better improvement of supplier relationship management.)
